According to The Daily Star, West Ham United are interested in signing Adama Traore from Middlesbrough in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that West Ham are holding talks with Middlesbrough over an £8 million transfer.

Boro will play in the Championship next season after getting relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.

West Ham are a big and ambitious club, and it would make sense for Traore to make the switch to the London Stadium.

However, it does not make any sense for the Hammers to sign a 21-year-old winger who is inconsistent, has no end product and is largely unproven.

During the 2016-17 season, Traore failed to score a single goal and provided only one assist in 16 Premier League starts for Middlesbrough.

Back in 2015-16, the former Spain Under-19 international failed to score and created only one chance in 10 Premier League appearances for Aston Villa.

Traore is talented and has potential, but West Ham would be wasting £8m if they signed the youngster from Middlesbrough this summer.

If the Hammers are serious about breaking into the top six of the Premier League next season, then they should aim higher than Traore.
