Reading manager Jaap Stam
Could the 44-year-old swap Berkshire for Hampshire this summer? And if so, could the following three players emerge as targets at St Mary's?
Once regarded as English football's brightest centre-back prospects at Leicester City, Moore is finally living up to his promise under Stam at Reading. With Martin Caceres released and Virgil van Dijk seemingly on his way too, the 24-year-old could be a priority target should the Dutchman get the job.
Known to Stam from his time as Ajax assistant and manager of the Dutch giants' second team, Riedewald could also fill any Van Dijk-shaped void at St Mary's. However, the imposing 20-year-old has found himself converted into a left-back of late, which could increase his appeal - especially if Ryan Bertrand also leaves the Saints.
The United States international was a key member of Stam's impressive Reading side, expertly breaking up play and driving through midfield to force openings for others to exploit - something Southampton have arguably lacked since Victor Wanyama's departure. However, he is yet to sign the contract offered to him in the aftermath of the Royals' play-off final defeat and could be angling for a Premier League move. Stam's appointment could coax him down the M3.
