Leeds United finally have a new manager to replace the departed Garry Monk.
A whole host of names had been linked with the Elland Road post following Garry Monk's shock resignation, but when the announcement finally came it caught practically everyone by surprise.
Leeds United have found a replacement for Garry Monk
"We wanted to appoint someone who can help us create a winning culture at the club and unite everyone connected with Leeds United, from the players to the supporters ultimately taking the club back to where we all feel we belong," Kinnear told leedsunited.com.
"Thomas was someone who had been on our radar from the very early stages of the process and quickly establish himself as the outstanding candidate."
Leeds can now set about signing the players that can lead them back to the top flight, having already missed out on some who would have significantly strengthened the current squad.
There is still plenty of time to go and Christiansen will hope he has the full support of owner Andrea Radrizzani to sign the players that can ensure Leeds finish in the top six next season.
Leeds showed much promise under Monk, despite narrowly missing out on the play-offs after a late slump in form, and the base is there to ensure Christiansen ca ensure he quickly justifies the faith his new employers have shown in him.
After the first big announcement of the summer, Leeds fans will be hoping there will be plenty more positive ones to come.
