Leeds United fans finally know who their new manager is with a name who did not appear on many lists getting the role.
Danish candidate Thomas Christansen, formerly of APOEL Nicosia, has taken up the role after being appointed by new chairman Andrea Radrizzani.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola
Whilst he may be Danish, he has actually played for Spain. Whilst at Barcelona he became a Spanish citizen, coming through the club’s academy and he played one game for the nation in 1993.
He was at Barcelona from 1991 until 1996, playing in the B team. The 44-year-old played with current Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola during that time.

Back in 2013 he was even linked with becoming Pep’s assistant at Bayern Munich and he spoke to Ekstra Bladet in 2015 about his good relationship with the City boss.
So could his appointment see Leeds develop a relationship with City?
Chelsea’s Charlie Colkett and Manchester City’s Bersant Celina in action
The Premier League side have a long list of talented players who, for the time being, have a long wait to get in the first-team. Leeds could provide them with a perfect base to learn the English game at a competitive level to the huge benefit of both clubs.
Leeds have already been linked with a City youngster this summer, Bersant Celina apparently on their radar. Do not be surprised if other names join that list.
