Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in the German winger.
According to a recent report from German newspaper Bild, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen winger Karim Bellarabi this summer, with the 27-year-old rated at £26million by his current club.
For that kind of money, Spurs may steer clear of the player despite his ability to both score and create on a consistent basis
However, they could use one of their current stars as a makeweight in the deal; namely Kevin Wimmer
As reported by German website Express, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy wants £17.6million for the Austrian international, and given his previous Bundesliga success at Cologne he could be an enticing prospect for Leverkusen, potentially knocking Bellarabi's own price tag down to £8.4million.
That would be far more enticing for a Tottenham side in need of additional creativity and goal threat from wide areas, and if Wimmer really is surplus to requirements in North London, it would be sensible to use his availability as a negotiating factor to secure a new signing of their own.
Wimmer hardly got a look in at Tottenham last season and they do not need him given their other defensive options. What they do need are wingers and, at 27, Bellarabi is arguably at his peak.
Tottenham may make a habit of signing younger players with considerable sell-on value, yet they are only going to reach the next level if they take a risk or two with ready-made options as well.
