Aston Villa’s summer business will largely depend on how effectively they can trim their bloated squad.
Villa need to sell some of their less effective players in order to ease the pressure of Financial Fair Play Regulations. However, their players won’t be sold on the cheap side.
One of those players, who could be heading out of Villa Park this summer, is defensive-midfielder Carlos Sanchez. The 31-year-old defender spent last season out on loan at the Fiorentina, and the Viola are expected to seal a permanent move for him.

He made a decent impact in Florence, making 28 appearances in all the competitions last season for the club.
Fiorentina are keen to sign him permanently, and according to reports from the Express and the Star, Villa have agreed a deal around £2.5 million with the Serie A club for the former Elche midfielder.

Villa are also keen on selling the midfielders Jordan Veretout and Carles Gil – both spent the 2016/17 campaign on loan at the St Etienne and Deportivo respectively. The Villans are looking to recoup £9 million-£10 million for both these midfielders.
