The Leeds United defender remains something of a mystery among his club’s fans, with his career playing out on Instagram rather than on the pitch.
Most footballers see their career played out on the pitch, but for those Leeds United fans eager to find out how forgotten defender Amadou Haidara is getting on, they would be better off checking his Instagram page.
The Frenchman arrived at Elland Road in the summer of 2016 in a deal that was never officially announced, and while he has appeared a few times for Leeds’ under-23s this season his chances of a first-team breakthrough seem slim to say the least.
A quick glance at his social media over the last few months shows that he was proud of his performance against Birmingham City’s second string, enjoyed time with recent permanent signing and former loanee Hadi Sacko and had no intention of giving up on his Leeds dream, as a hashtag in late January reinforced.
Unfortunately for the 23-year-old, he remains on the periphery at Leeds and while the new manager may feel differently, he could struggle like another footballer he recently met up with in the form of Tottenham Hotspur’s Georges-Kevin N’Koudou.
The French winger barely got a look in at Spurs this season, although he fared a lot better than his countryman, who is yet to make the senior squad.

Haidara kicked off his summer break last month with a trip to London to see the young winger and one wonders if they shared stories of frustrating campaigns or looked ahead to brighter futures.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for the Leeds centre-back, although the departure of Jack Vann suggests he could get more chances for the under-23s.
That may not ultimately be enough to force his way into the Whites first-team. However for those fans keen to see just how long he remains at Leeds, it may be best to keep an eye on his Instagram page rather than for any official club announcement given the lack of fanfare when he arrived.
