Tottenham Hotspur look like being busy in the summer transfer window.
According to a report from the London Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur are targeting five new players this summer, with their defence one of the key areas they intend to strengthen.
The report claims Hull City's Harry Maguire, Bournemouth's Adam Smith and Fulham's Ryan Sessegnon could all be signed to strengthen Spurs' back line, while Everton midfielder Ross Barkley and AS Monaco winger Thomas Lemar are also high on the agenda.
Interestingly no out-and-out striker is listed despite Tottenham's need to add quality support for England international Harry Kane.
Tottenham may be able to get some of the players on the list for relatively cheap fees in what is an otherwise grossly inflated market, but the biggest outlay could come if they bring Barkley to North London from Merseyside.
Of all the players listed, the two Tottenham fans should be most excited about are Sessegnon and Lemar.
The former is one of the most talented attacking full-backs in the country despite being only 17, while Lemar has enjoyed a stellar campaign at Monaco and would instantly add quality and creativity to Tottenham's win play.
It remains to be seen if Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino will successfully get all his transfer targets, and much could depend on the money made from players sales, but it is clear he is not standing still and wants to sufficiently invest ahead of what could be another very successful season.
