Rangers hero Lorenzo Amoruso
Lorenzo Amoruso has suggested to the Evening Times that he expects Rangers to set themselves the target of finishing second in the Scottish Premiership next season, while also winning some silverware through one of the domestic cups.
The Gers go into the summer off the back of a fairly disappointing campaign where they had to watch their bitter rivals claim the domestic treble, while they finished 39 points off Celtic in third in the Scottish Premiership.
Rangers endured a difficult season this past term
And while the Light Blues legend is not expecting his old club to end the Hoops' dominance next term, he insisted that the side will be looking to give the Ibrox faithful something to celebrate.
“It is still early to say but I think the aim will be to at least get second in the league, we will see if they can do any better, and to try and get some trophies," he told the Evening Times.
Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha
“To get the League Cup or the Scottish Cup I think is vital to bring a bit of success back to Ibrox.
“The supporters need that as well. I really hope they can do it."
What may make Pedro Caixinha's job slightly more difficult is the fact that the Gers also have a potential Europa League campaign to factor into their schedule should they get through the preliminary rounds.
But if they can significantly bolster the depth within their squad - they have already signed Portugal international Bruno Alves this summer - then perhaps it may not be out of the question to suggest that, if Amoruso's prediction regarding their target is correct, they can win some silverware next term while also putting up a better fight in the top flight.
