Could Aston Villa really loan out this season’s top scorer?

According to a report from Turkish website Fotomac, the representative of Aston Villa striker Jonathan Kodjia, Arthur Poupel, met with Fenerbahce on Tuesday to discuss a possible loan move for his client.
This somewhat bizarre story first surfaced last week, with the Turkish club allegedly pursuing a temporary deal for a player who only joined Villa last summer.
However, Fotomac now claims that talks have begun, with the Villa player’s agent allegedly citing a clause in Kodjia’s contract, allowing him to leave on loan if Steve Bruce’s side did not earn immediate promotion back to the Premier League.

It seems the crazy story has just got crazier, with the latest report claiming that if Fenerbahce are willing to cover all Kodjia’s wages he could spend next season on loan at the Europa League club.
It remains to be seen if this is one for the silly season or a viable option for a player who is currently recovering from injury.
Kodjia is contracted to Villa until the summer of 2020, and they are a lot more likely to secure a belated promotion with him than without him.

He scored 19 goals in 40 appearances before a broken ankle prematurely ended his campaign and Bruce will be desperate to keep him for his first full season in charge.
Villa fans are used to bizarre transfer stories but this one may need to be accompanied by a pinch of salt and then some.
