Leeds United are yet to sign head coach Garry Monk to a long term deal despite it being a priority for owner Andrea Radrizzani.

While Leeds have an option to extend Monk's contract by a year to stop him falling into the rivals' clutches, a long term deal is what the club really need.

Monk reportedly only has one key demand, according to The Times, and that is assurances over the club's transfer strategy.

The Times report that Monk was frustrated by the club's failure to back him in the January transfer window, and he wants the funds to build a team capable of challenging for automatic promotion.

Leeds finished seventh last season, certainly punching above their weight in terms of transfer spend, compared to clubs like Aston Villa.

The Whites season was though seen as somewhat of a disappointment considering they spent several months in the play-off places before tailing off right at the end.

It is understandable from Monk's perspective that if he is expected to commit his own future to the club, that he is keen to receive the right tools to accomplish the job.
