According to a recent report in The Mirror, Liverpool are closing in on a £12 million deal for Leicester City winger Demarai Gray.

Tottenham Hotspur and Everton are also claimed to be interested in the 20-year-old, but it has been reported that Liverpool are growing increasingly confident of signing the youngster and will make an offer to trigger his release clause when the summer transfer window official opens in July.

The England Under-21 international has admitted on Instagram that the 2016-17 campaign has been tricky for him, but the winger has hinted that he will be at the King Power Stadium next season.

However, anything is possible in the summer transfer window, and if Liverpool are able to secure the services of Gray, then they will be making a brilliant long-term signing.

Gray may not have featured heavily for Leicester this season, but there is no doubt that he is a very talented and promising young player.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has a good record of working with young players with potential, and the pace of Gray will give something extra to the Anfield outfit, who will be looking to feature in the group stage of the Champions League next season.

Just one goal and only three assists in nine Premier League starts for Leicester this season are far from inspiring, but given his young age and undeniable talent, Gray would be a bargain signing for Liverpool and could prove to be a long-term success at the Merseyside outfit.
