Southampton’s Premier League season ended on a dull note as they were beaten 1-0 by Stoke City on Sunday afternoon.
The Saints went into the game having just once in the previous five games, and were coming off the back of a 0-0 home draw with Manchester United, as Claude Puel’s men struggle to score at home.
Four blanks at St. Mary’s Stadium had piled the pressure on Puel heading into the final game of the season, and that became five after a 1-0 home defeat to Stoke City.
Ex-Saints striker Peter Crouch headed home the winning goal in the second half to give Stoke all three points, leaving Southampton to finish in eighth place in the Premier League table.

Southampton have endured an up and down season, and finished on 46 points this term, a whopping 15 points seventh-placed Everton, managed by former Southampton boss Ronald Koeman.
Southampton will hope to avoid another summer of losing key players, but changes could be coming given that The Independent recently reported that manager Puel could be replaced by Hull boss Marco Silva this summer.

Many Southampton fans took to Twitter after Sunday’s defeat to Stoke to state that it’s time for Puel to go, urging the club to sack the Frenchman less than a year after he replaced Koeman.
However, many supporters also made it clear that Silva – who saw his Hull side lose 7-1 to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday – isn’t the right man for the job either, begging the club to look elsewhere and avoid the Portuguese boss.
