Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea City in the summer transfer window, according to The Daily Mail.

It has been reported that Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino wants to re-sign Sigurdsson as he believes that the Iceland international midfielder is a better and cheaper alternative to Everton star Ross Barkley.

With Everton demanding as much as £50 million as transfer fee to part company with the England international midfielder this summer, Pochettino is considering making a £25m move for Sigurdsson, according to the report.

Sigurdsson joined Swansea from Tottenham in the summer of 2014 and has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.

The 27-year-old former Reading and 1899 Hoffenheim man has scored nine goals and provided 13 assists in 37 Premier League appearances for the Swans this season.

Everton midfielder Barkley has scored five goals and provided eight assists in 35 league matches this campaign.

Tottenham are set to finish second in the Premier League this season and will feature in the group stage of the Champions League in 2017-18.
