Rangers have emerged as shock contenders to sign Aberdeen winger Niall McGinn, according to the Irish Sun.

McGinn will leave the Dons at the end of his contract this season and his name is said to have been discussed by Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha this past week.

However, the report states the 29-year-old - who has also been linked with a number of English clubs - has had no contract thus far with anyone from Ibrox.

The prospect of signing McGinn is sure to divide the Rangers fanbase. On the one hand, the Northern Irishman has scored 10 goals this season, creating another eight to help Derek McInnnes' side to a second-placed finish.

However, they could find McGinn's Celtic ties hard to overlook, with the former Derry City player spending three-and-a-half years on the other side of Glasgow.

McGinn is one of several Dons players said to feature on Rangers' summer shopping list, along with midfield duo Ryan Jack and Kenny McLean, while defender Andrew Considine and Jonny Hayes were mentioned as possible Ibrox targets during the January transfer window.

Would you want McGinn at Rangers next season?
