Scunthorpe United are interested in signing Martyn Waghorn from Rangers in the summer transfer window, according to The Scottish Sun.

It has been reported that Scunthorpe manager Graham Alexander was at Ibrox on Wednesday evening to watch Waghorn in action for Rangers against Aberdeen at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership.

According to The Scottish Sun, the League One club in England want the 27-year-old to spearhead their attack next season and get them promoted to the Championship.

Scunthorpe finished third in League One this season, but they will remain in the division for the 2017-18 campaign as they lost to Millwall in the playoff semi-finals.

Waghorn was brilliant for Rangers in the Scottish Championship last season, but the forward has struggled to play to the best of his ability in the Scottish Premiership this campaign.

Rangers, who look set to finish third in the Scottish Premiership this season, will be aiming to clinch the runners-up spot in 2017-18 and close the gap between themselves and Old Firm rivals Celtic.
