Glasgow Rangers fans will be enthused to read Niall McGinn’s comments about them earlier this season.
According to a report in the Irish Sun, Rangers are making McGinn one of their main transfer targets this summer.
The ex-Celtic man has impressed at Aberdeen this season, and Pedro Caixinha is keen to bring him to Ibrox.
And McGinn has already spoken positively about the quality he believes Rangers’ possess.
“I don’t expect Rangers to be battling it out in the bottom half of the table,” McGinn said to the Newsletter at the start of the season.
“They are a big club with big ambition. They will have a strong squad that will be ready to compete for major honours.”
Rangers, ultimately, disappointed in their first season back in the top flight - and are set to finish in third place.
However, McGinn’s comments suggest that a move to Rangers could appeal, if he genuinely believes that Caixinha’s men have enough quality to win trophies.
McGinn has been one of Aberdeen’s star performers this term, but his contract is due to expire at the end of the season - making him freely available.
