Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has told Football.London that he thinks Son Heung-min can improve even further next season.

Spurs travelled to face Leicester City in their penultimate game of the 2016/17 Premier League season on Thursday night, and they came away with a stunning 6-1 victory.

Four goals from Harry Kane stole the show, with Son Heung-min bagging the other two goals for Spurs, whilst left back Ben Chilwell scored what proved to be little more than a consolation for Leicester.

It was another sensational performance from Spurs, who showed no signs of slowing down despite their season essentially being over; they can't catch now-champions Chelsea, and nobody can catch the in second place.

Whilst Kane will grab the headlines with his four-goal salvo, winger Son produced another impressive performance, notching two goals and one assist.

The South Korean star, 24, joined Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, hit just seven goals and five assists last term, but has been superb this term with 21 goals and five assists in all competitions.

A dangerous winger and alternative option in attack when Kane suffered injury, Son has been a versatile attacking weapon for Spurs, but the form of players like Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen mean his impressive statistics this season have gone somewhat overshadowed.

However, manager Mauricio Pochettino had nothing but praise for Son after the final whistle at Leicester, telling Football.London that he deserves just as much credit as Kane, Alli and Eriksen, before noting that he can improve again next season.

“I think he deserves a lot of credit about his goals and the performance of the team, he was one of the key players in this season, like Harry, Dele and like in other situations Christian Eriksen too.

“He has been key for us during the season. In the moment that Harry was out, he was our main striker and scored a lot of goals and gave us a lot of points. He's still young and can improve. This is only second season in the Premier League. We are so happy. He can improve next season again,” he added.
