Jamie Carragher has told Sky Sports, during their live coverage of Tottenham’s Hotspur’s match against Leicester City, that the one player which Mauricio Pochettino’s side lack is Liverpool’s Sadio Mane.
Tottenham have enjoyed a highly impressive campaign, and are destined to finish in second place in the Premier League table.
Spurs ran out 6-1 winners against Leicester at the King Power Stadium last night, and Carragher admitted that there were very few areas of Pochettino’s squad which could be improved.
However, he suggested that Liverpool’s Mane would have been the perfect addition for Spurs to make last summer.
“Sissoko coming in hasn’t worked. And you think of Mane - and I think Tottenham were in for him - and that’s the one thing they lack,” the Liverpool legend said.
“That blistering pace. And you think is that a problem away from home, you need that blistering pace. They don’t have too many, if any, that can rip in behind. You think if Mane was there instead of Sissoko, and what that would have given them.”
Spurs have the best home record in the Premier League, but four teams have taken more points than them on their travels this season.
Tottenham arguably don’t have the electric pace required to be the most threatening team on the counter attack.
However, Spurs’ display at the King Power Stadium was stunning.
Harry Kane smashed in four goals, while Heung-Min Son netted two - as Tottenham picked up a 6-1 victory.
Tottenham’s campaign finishes at the weekend, when they take on Hull City.
