Brighton and Hove Albion boss Chris Hughton has confirmed this week that midfielder Richie Towell will be sent out on loan to a Championship team next season.

The Seagulls boss is quoted by RTE as stating:

"Players like Rohan (Ince) and Richie will go out on loan.

"We have been really delighted with Richie but we are very keen for him to get out on loan to the Championship next season."

The 25-year-old joined Brighton from the League of Ireland side Dundalk in November 2015. The Irishman arrived with a fine reputation, after scoring 27 goals in 38 games from midfield in the 2015 Dundalk season.

He has however found it hard for first-team football at Brighton, featuring just three times for the first-team this season, scoring once.

Brighton’s successful promotion push saw him struggle to get regular playing time but his previous form at Dundalk must have teams taking interest.

One manager who certainly might be interested is Nottingham Forest boss Mark Warburton.

As reported by Talk of the Town in 2014 Warburton wanted to sign Towell for Brentford when he was manager at Griffin Park.

Now, three years on, he might have the chance to bring the former Celtic man to Forest.

Towell is exactly the type of player Forest need in midfield to replace the January departee Henri Lansbury and he would add much needed goals from the midfield area to Forest’s game.

Forest should be biting Brighton’s hands off to get Towell at the City Ground next season.
