According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers are interested in signing Hartlepool winger Jack Blackford, having named him in their squad for the Hong Kong Soccer Sevens.

The Gers are jetting out to Hong Kong for a seven-a-side tournament next week, mostly geared towards helping young players make a name for themselves.

Previous players of the tournament include Manchester City's Brandon Barker, Preston's Daniel Johnson, Sheffield Wednesday's Barry Bannan, Aston Villa's Gabriel Agbonlahor and ex-Rangers youngster Andrew Shinnie.

Rangers are hoping for success in the tournament, and have named the likes of Aidan Wilson, Jamie Barjonas and Serge Atakayi in their ten-man squad, all of whom were involved in the matchday squad against Aberdeen on Wednesday.

A surprise name on the list is Hartlepool's Jack Blackford, and The Scottish Sun report that Rangers are interested in a deal to lure him to Ibrox.

Blackford, 19, has spent ten years in the ranks with Hartlepool, and has previously undergone trials with Aston Villa and Manchester City as the two English sides took a look at the young winger.

With Hartlepool now relegated to non-league football, Blackford could move on this summer, and Rangers are positioning themselves at the front of the queue for his signature.

It's a strange platform for Blackford to try and impress on, given that it's only seven-a-side games, but it does give Rangers a chance to see him in action before making a concrete move this summer.
