Danny Ward was the hero for Huddersfield Town on Wednesday evening, as they got the better of Sheffield Wednesday to progress to the Championship playoff final.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper, who joined Huddersfield on a season-long loan deal from Liverpool in the summer of 2016, played a massive role in David Wagner’s side's triumph.

The Wales international denied Sam Hutchinson and Fernando Forestieri in the penalty shootout to help his team to a 4-3 win on penalties in the semi-final tie.

The first leg had finished goalless, and the second leg at the Hillsborough Stadium on Wednesday evening ended 1-1.

Rangers player Matt Crooks, who is 23 years of age and can operate as a central defender or as a defensive midfielder, was following the match.

Crooks is a former Huddersfield player, and he was impressed with Ward’s heroics and the Terriers’ progress to the Championship playoff final where they take on Reading for a place in the 2017-18 Premier League campaign.
