If Tottenham Hotspur can sign Davy Klaassen from Ajax, he could become their version of Dennis Bergkamp.
And Klaassen’s past words suggest that if he came to England, he would want to emulate the Arsenal legend, Bergkamp.
“Bergkamp played in the same sort of position,” Klaassen said to IBT back in 2015. “I've trained a lot with him on my first touch and finishing. He's a player I liked when I was young. I think I've learned the most from him.
“Sometimes he makes a little joke about the number 10 because he played with that number almost all his life, but he gives some advice about touch, finishing and how I can get the right position in the field. That helps a lot.”
“I will do everything to come close to the things that they have done.”
Bergkamp has gone on to become renowned as one of the Premier League’s greatest ever players, and if Klaassen could have a similar impact at Spurs, he would be a wonderful signing.
Tottenham have reportedly identified Klaassen to be a potential addition, as Mauricio Pochettino looks to upgrade his attacking options.
Klaassen has scored 20 goals for Ajax this term, and he has managed to claim 12 assists - which shows the potential he could have if he came to England.
If Klaassen was brought to Spurs he would face fierce competition for a starting spot, with Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen already at the North London club.
