Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to his side’s failure to progress to the Championship playoff final.

Wednesday lost to Huddersfield Town in the Championship semi-final playoff on penalties. After drawing the first leg goalless away and the second leg 1-1 at home, the Owls lost 4-3 in the penalty shootout.

Bannan has taken to Twitter to express his disappointment at the Owls’ failure to get promoted to the Premier League, but the 27-year-old has stated that he and his teammates will be back next season.

This is the second season in a row that Wednesday have finished in the top six of the Championship but have failed to get promoted to the Premier League.

The club’s fans must be frustrated and disappointed with how the season has ended, but they should remain optimistic and confident about the 2017-18 campaign.
