Could the recent Leeds United addition make his first-team bow next season?
For the last few years, young defender Jack Vann has been tipped to ultimately make his first-team debut for Leeds United, so it was a cruel blow when the player confirmed he would be leaving Elland Road this summer.
Vann joins Billy Whitehouse in looking for a new club, but could the centre-back's departure see another Leeds prospect move further up the pecking order in the form of Paudie O'Connor?
The 19-year-old joined Leeds from Limerick earlier this year and he has since made his debut for the club's under-23s.
Vann was a regular for Leeds' second string prior to his departure and now O'Connor will know it could be a straight fight between him and Paul McKay if and when manager Garry Monk opts to call up a defender from the under-23s.
O'Connor already has 39 senior appearances for Limerick under his belt, scoring three goals in the process, and if he impresses in pre-season and in the early months of next season for Leeds' under-23s, he could be the next youngster to be blooded.
Vann's potential was never in question; it is only sad that he was not given a chance and will now move on like so many young prospects before him.
O'Connor will know the challenges ahead, and one man 's disappointment could ultimately lead to another's dream coming true.
