According to The Mirror, Leicester City defender Wes Morgan is tempted to make a move to Newcastle United this summer, prompting the Foxes to look at Hull City’s Harry Maguire.

Morgan, 33, left hometown club Nottingham Forest in order to join local rivals Leicester in January 2012, and he has been vital for the Foxes ever since.

The centre back has racked up nearly 250 appearances for Leicester since his arrival, and famously captained the club to their historic Premier League title win last season.

Injuries have hampered Morgan recently, but it seems that he will have a decision to make over his future when the transfer window opens this summer.

The Mirror report that Newcastle United are keen to land Morgan this summer, and the Jamaican international is understood to be tempted by a move to St. James’ Park.

It’s stated that Magpies boss Rafael Benitez wants to bring Morgan to the North East this summer, and is prepared to offer the giant centre back a pay rise and a long-term contract to secure a deal.

The report claims that Morgan is attracted by such an offer given his age, and Leicester are looking towards Hull City defender Harry Maguire as a possible replacement.

Newcastle do have Jamaal Lascelles, Ciaran Clark, Chancel Mbemba and Grant Hanley available at centre back, but Benitez is understood to want a veteran presence at the back, with Morgan certainly fitting the bill.
