The Championship’s three relegated teams, Blackburn Rovers, Wigan Athletic and Rotherham United, are in talks with Scunthorpe United captain Stephen Dawson, The Sun reports [15 May Goals pullout, page 15].
Dawson has turned down the offer of a new contract at Glanford Park, and looks set to leave the Irons at the end of his existing deal this summer.
HITC Sport reported last week as many as 10 clubs have been alerted to the 31-year-old’s situation, with Blackburn, Wigan and Rotherham among them according to The Sun.
Diminutive midfielder Dawson played 43 times as Scunthorpe reached the League One play-offs in 2016-17, and would be an asset to any side fighting for promotion to the Championship next term.
The Irishman previously spent time at Blackburn and Wigan’s Lancashire rivals Rochdale, whose manager Keith Hill took Dawson to Rotherham’s near neighbours Barnsley in 2012.

Wigan are also being linked with a move for Jay O’Shea after the midfielder turned down a two-year deal at Sheffield United [The Star].
The 28-year-old previously shone for Chesterfield under Paul Cook, who is being considered for the Latics post, HITC Sport understands.
Is Dawson a good signing for Blackburn/Wigan/Rotherham?
