Riyad Mahrez’s season was summed up yesterday in a disappointing defeat for Leicester at The Etihad.
Last year he stunned Manchester City supporters by inspiring Leicester to a dramatic win there, yesterday he suffered the ignominy of having a penalty ruled out for accidentally kicking the ball twice.

It was amateurish stuff from the Algerian, who has been less consistent than he was last season.
He has still had bright moments, but he has been nowhere near the levels last year which saw him win a Player of the Year award.
Mahrez has in recent days been linked with an exit from Leicester, with The Telegraph reporting the Algerian is a transfer target for Tottenham.

The winger had a chance to get into Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino’s good books yesterday, as his penalty would have earned Leicester a draw, pegged Manchester City back, and guaranteed Spurs a second place finish.
In probability Tottenham are likely to achieve this of their own accord, but it would have been nice to lock it in early and ease any pressure on the players worrying they could drop down to third again as they did last season at the death.
