According to The Sun, Liverpool are interested in signing Joe Hart from Premier League rivals Manchester City in the summer transfer window.

Hart is currently on loan at Torino, having joined the Serie A outfit in the summer of 2016.

It has been reported by The Sun that Liverpool will have to pay £20 million as transfer fee in order to secure the services of the England international goalkeeper in the summer.

The Daily Mail has credited Everton with a move for Hart, with West Ham United also named among the clubs who want the 30-year-old.

England's Joe Hart warms up before the match

Much has been made of Hart in the British media. Given Claudio Bravo’s struggles in front of goal and doubts over Willy Caballero, many have suggested that letting Hart leave on loan in the summer of 2016 was a mistake.

Stoke City goalkeeper Shay Given has been quoted as saying to The Express that Hart was harshly treated at City, while Jamie Carragher said to The Mirror that Liverpool should sign the England international. Ray Wilkins recently told Sky Sports that the Reds should make a move for Hart in the summer.

Hart is not a bad goalkeeper, but for Liverpool and Everton to progress as a team and challenge for the Champions League places on a consistent basis, they need a better player between the sticks. The 30-year-old has made a string of mistakes at Torino, which for some reason, many are choosing to ignore.

It was because of Hart that Torino failed to win against Inter Milan in Serie A in March, and it because of the City goalkeeper that the Turin outfit could not pick up maximum points against Crotone in April.

The Torino goalkeeper has often failed to claim crosses and high balls that he should have, and despite his best efforts, he has not failed to inspire too much confidence. Hart has made the second most errors leading to goals among goalkeepers in Serie A (5) this campaign.

Hart would still be able to do a job in the Premier League, but if Liverpool and Everton are aiming to reach the next level next season, then they should target a better goalkeeper.
