Sunderland boss David Moyes has opened himself up to ridicule once again, after his comments at his latest press conference.
Moyes was in defiant mood when he faced the press earlier today, and suggested that Sunderland had not given up hope of surviving in the Premier League.
DM: "We have played well in recent games. We have had good moments. We need to stop conceding and score more."— Sunderland AFC (@SunderlandAFC) April 25, 2017
But the Scot’s rather obvious explanation of his plan to keep Sunderland up, has left supporters of the Wearside club in stitches.
@SunderlandAFC Thanks captain obvious, who knew that if you scored more and conceded less you would win more games— Nick (@nicholaswilso11) April 25, 2017
I wish we would hurry up and confirm relegation to stop this dillusion from David Moyes. #NoGreatEscape this time marra— Safc-Fans (@SafcFans) April 25, 2017
Let's get this clown Moyes out of the club, back the team but show our feelings known to short and get him as far away from Safc as we can!— Monkey Meat (@GaryMesser79) April 25, 2017
Moyes may be refusing to accept Sunderland’s fate, but his side will have to completely transform their poor form to remain a Premier League club next season.
Sunderland are currently rooted to the bottom of the top flight table, and they have been stuck in the relegation zone for a considerable amount of time.
The Black Cats have fallen 12 points adrift of safety, with just six games remaining.
Sunderland are next in action tomorrow evening, when they take on fellow relegation strugglers Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.
