Goals against Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund have raised Mbappe’s profile to new heights.

And, even though Monaco reportedly want an eye-watering £100 million for their star striker (The Sun), Allen wants Spurs to show some ambition and make a bid.

“I love to see them love Mbappe from Monaco,” the Tottenham legend said. “That’s what he’s worth [£100m}. To add him to Spurs front line alongside Harry Kane would be a massive statement and one which would excite everybody.”

If Spurs were to enter a bid for Mbappe they would likely face competition from a number of rivals across Europe, as the striker in one of the most in-demand players in the world.

Tottenham are expected to invest in their first-team squad in the summer, as Mauricio Pochettino looks to add depth to his current options at White Hart Lane.
