Leeds United are set to take on Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium at the weekend.
Murphy is currently on loan at Burton from Leeds, and Monk could have been forgiven for turning to the midfielder to try and find out some secrets about his side’s upcoming opponents.
However, Monk insists that he has not been in contact with Murphy, as he is expecting a difficult challenge - regardless of what team Burton put out.
“Haha, no! You might ask the players for that one,” Monk said, when asked if he had turned to Murphy to get any advice about Burton.
“Whatever team they put out will be a difficult game, as they all are in the Championship, but we go there prepared.”
Murphy will be ineligible to play in the match, due to the conditions of his loan, which will be a blow to Burton.
Leeds travel to the Pirelli Stadium with the pressure on, as they have endured a difficult run of form at the worst time.
Leeds have won just two of their last eight matches, to drop out of the play off places, and they need to discover the winning formula quickly.
If the Whites are able to beat Burton, they could move up to fifth in the Championship table - providing other results go in their favour.
