Birmingham City will return to action this weekend when they take on Aston Villa away from home at Villa Park in the Championship. The match on Sunday afternoon will be Harry Redknapp’s first in charge of Birmingham.
Redknapp was appointed the Birmingham manager earlier this week following the resignation of Gianfranco Zola.
The Blues are 20th in the Championship table at the moment with 47 points from 43 matches, just three points above the relegation zone.
Meanwhile, Villa are currently 12th in the standings with 58 points from 43 games and are out of the running for the playoffs.
The Villans will certainly try their best to win against Birmingham and enhance their chances of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Redknapp has stated that he knows what to expect when takes his Birmingham side to Villa Park on Sunday afternoon.
“It’ll be pretty hostile for my first game given it’s a second city derby — there’s obviously no love lost there between the two sides and I guess I don’t help it!” Redknapp wrote in The London Evening Standard.
After the match against Villa, Birmingham will face Huddersfield Town at St. Andrew’s and Bristol City away from home at the Ashton Gate Stadium in the Championship.
