Glasgow Rangers have been linked with an ambitious move for Norwich City midfielder Graham Dorrans.

The Scottish Sun report Dorrans is on their radar after scouting him on Monday ahead of a potential summer move.

Dorrans is a boyhood Rangers fan which will help their cause, and the club have held a long term interest in him.

Former manager Ally McCoist told of his desire to sign the midfielder five years ago, before the club were liquidated.

He told the Daily Record in early 2012: "He [Dorrans] is a player I like. There has been no contact between the clubs but I like him.”

The paper speculated that Dorrans could be a makeweight in a deal which would send Nikica Jelavic to West Bromwich Albion, but nothing came of either deal.

Rangers would drop down to the bottom rung of the Scottish football ladder that summer after financial irregularities caused them to be reset, and their dreams of signing players of the calibre of Dorrans were over.

Now they are back in the top flight and set to secure a top three place. Getting Dorrans in this summer would show they are back close to where they always wanted to be.
