Hammers midfielder Manuel Lanzini sat down for an exclusive interview with the club's official website ahead of his side's clash with Everton on Saturday, and raved about Toffees star Ross Barkley, highlighting how he believes he thrives under pressure.

The 23-year-old Blues midfielder has endured heavy criticism during periods of the season, but seems to have bounced back every time.

His displays against Liverpool and Manchester United earlier this month were a particular cause for concern, as Ronald Koeman's men were over-run in midfield, with Barkley allowing the occasion to affect him in an adverse manner.

Lanzini though, offered words of support for the England international, during an exclusive interview with WHUFC.com, suggesting that the pressure he finds himself under on a regular basis is not necessarily a bad thing:

"Ross Barkley, who is a very good player. I don’t think he is thinking about the pressure people are putting on him, because there was a lot of pressure on him last week and he played really well against Hull City. He has a good touch, good finishing and good recovery, so he is a very good player. I don’t think the pressure is a bad thing for him."

The game between the Hammers and the Toffees on Saturday is a hugely important one for both sides, with Slaven Bilic's men looking to secure their Premier League safety and Koeman's troops still fighting for a place inside the top six.

And Barkley will surely have a big say in the outcome of the match, with his battle with Lanzini likely to be one of the key head-to-head clashes in the middle of the park.
