Rachid Ghezzal celebrates scoring for Lyon
According to RMC Sport, Everton remain keen on signing Lyon winger Rachid Ghezzal on a free transfer when his contract expires this summer.
Ghezzal, 24, was born in Lyon and has come up through the ranks with his hometown club, enjoying a particularly impressive campaign last season.
With eight goals and eight assists in Ligue 1 last season, Ghezzal impressed with Lyon, and generated interest from a host of teams, with Everton hoping to land him last summer.
RMC Sport reported back in August that Ghezzal actually rejected an offer to join Everton, but it doesn't seem that the Toffees are done with their pursuit just yet – despite the Algerian international's disappointing record this season.
Ghezzal has just two goals and four assists in all competitions this season, a huge decrease from his 2015-16 numbers, and is expected to walk away from Lyon when his contract ends this summer.
Now, RMC Sport report that Everton are still hoping to sign Ghezzal this summer, despite him snubbing the club less than a year ago, with his lack of a new contract with Lyon giving them some hope.
Lyon winger Rachid Ghezzal
Having failed with a cash offer last summer, Everton could now land Ghezzal for nothing, in a move that Toffees decision makers such as director of football Steve Walsh – who lured Ghezzal's international team-mate Riyad Mahrez to Leicester City – may consider to be a bargain.
Everton do have the likes of Kevin Mirallas and Ademola Lookman at their disposal out wide, whilst Yannick Bolasie is working his way back from a serious knee injury, but with question marks over the futures of Gerard Deulofeu and Aaron Lennon, another winger may be on Ronald Koeman's wish list, and they could hope to finally land Ghezzal for nothing.
