Celtic have been linked with a move for Sunderland striker Fabio Borini.
Rodgers and Borini know each other well, having linked up at Liverpool earlier in their respective careers.
However, Borini has already admitted that his relationship with Rodgers is not a strong one, after the pair fell out towards the end of the Italian striker’s time at Anfield.
Borini told the Guardian, back in 2016: “We don’t speak anymore. It’s sad. It ended badly between me and him, it’s not what I wanted.”
It seems, then, that if Celtic did target Borini that Rodgers would have some bridges to build with the striker.
Borini is expected to be made available this summer, with Sunderland likely to drop out of the Premier League.
Sunderland are stuck at the bottom of England’s top flight, and sit nine points adrift of safety.
Celtic, meanwhile, are known to already be on the look out for potential summer additions.
Rodgers wants to improve Celtic’s squad, as he aims to help them continue to dominate Scottish football.
