Lee Cattermole has admitted to the Chronicle that he is finding it difficult playing for Sunderland at the moment.
Cattermole missed a sizeable chunk of the season after damaging his hip, and has been rushed back to fitness in recent weeks.
Cattermole has now started in Sunderland’s last three matches, despite not being fully fit.
And the central-midfielder admits that he is finding it tough to get through matches at the moment.
“It’s difficult, I’m not going to hide that fact," Cattermole said, when asked about playing for Sunderland currently.
“I’ve been out for a long time. and it is tough, it is hard when I’m out there to get to where I want to be at, but I’ve got to just keep going, get to the end of the season and help the team out as much as I can.”
Cattermole has been unable to finish any of Sunderland’s last three contests, due to his current levels of fitness.
Cattermole has been rushed back due to the precariousness of Sunderland’s situation.
The Black Cats are in desperate need of finding the winning formula, as they battle against the drop.
Sunderland are currently stuck at rock bottom of the Premier League table, and they are nine points adrift of safety with just six matches remaining.
