Karamoko Dembele crowned Player of the Tournament as Celtic youngsters win prestigious competition

The Celtic teenager looks to have a very bright future in the game.

Celtic sprung something of a surprise last season when a 13-year-old came off the bench for the Bhoys’ under-20 side, his small frame standing out alongside players seven years his senior.

But appearances can be deceiving, and despite being diminutive Karamoko Dembele impressed during that cameo appearance, his innate talent clear for all to see.

Unsurprisingly considering his age, Dembele’s senior Celtic debut is still on the backburner, but Bhoys fans will be pleased to hear that he is continuing to impress at lower levels.

Celtic took part in the Marc Overmars Tournament last weekend and 14-year-old Dembele was the star of the show, helping the youngsters overcome FC Tokyo, Anderlecht and Ajax and being crowned Player of the Tournament in the process.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers will not want to rush his other Dembele into first-team action, but do not be surprised to see the player feature in the next few years.

After all, his quality is too good to ignore for long.
