Reports emanating from Italy today suggest that Spurs are willing to meet Sampdoria striker Patrik Schick's £21.5 million release clause this summer, according to Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato.

The 21-year-old Czech Republic international has impressed for the Blucerchiati with his performances this season.

He has scored nine goals in 26 Serie A outings, but it is the overall manner in which he goes about his business that would surely appeal to Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Calcio Mercato do claim that the Italian side are keen on keeping hold of Schick, however, with the offer of a new contract for one of their prized assets thought to be high on their priority list.

Respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims that the youngster's agent Pavel Paska will meet club President Massimo Ferrero this week, in a bid to secure new terms on a deal for Schick, after Spurs' interest was reported.

The former Sparta Prague man has the profile of a typical Pochettino signing, and could prove to be a fantastic back-up to Harry Kane.

He is strong in the air, incredibly athletic, and is renowned for his knack of finding space in tight games. At the age of just 21, he obviously still has a lot of room for improvement, but who better to mould him into the player he is undoubtedly capable of becoming than the Argentine?

One question mark hanging over his head, would be whether he is capable of adapting to the physical nature of the English game.

Standing at 6ft 2 in, however, Schick is powerfully built, and is not afraid to engage in battles with opposing defenders.

And in the current climate, £21.5 million doesn't seem to be like too much of a risk.
