Here is how we expect Southampton and Manchester City to line-up ahead of their Premier League encounter this weekend.

Southampton welcome Manchester City to St. Mary’s Stadium for a Premier League meeting between two sides experiencing a promising run of form.

Claude Puel’s Southampton appear to have recovered from a poor start to 2017, after losing just one of their last six league fixtures – so much so, that the Saints could register three successive Premier League wins for the first time under Puel.

Likewise, visitors Manchester City have experienced just a solitary defeat from their previous ten top-flight games and head to the south coast in the hunt for their 19th victory of the campaign – which would already equal their tally of wins from last season.

Southampton will again be without the suspended Oriol Romeu, but may be able to welcome back fellow midfielder Steven Davis and prolific forward Manolo Gabbiadini – after the duo recovered from ankle and groin injuries respectively.

City boss Pep Guardiola has availability issues surrounding defenders John Stones and Alexsandar Kolarov, but may well be able to call upon Vincent Kompany in an attempt to stabilise his back four – which will also see a continued absence for injured full back Bacary Sagna.

City’s goal-getter Sergio Aguero is likely to provide Southampton’s back line – still missing Virgil Van Dijk – with a testing evening, as the Argentina international currently has ten goals from his last ten appearances and is likely to be supported by an enviable attacking front of Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane, Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva.
