Tottenham Hotspur Under-23s were beaten 4-1 by a strong Everton team at Goodison Park on Monday evening.
Kazaiah Sterling scored Spurs' only goal with his side already two down to strikes from Ademola Lookman and Bass Sambou, before Kieran Dowell and Dominic Calvert-Lewin's efforts completed the rout.
Tottenham fielded a youthful 11, with a trialist, presumed to be 20-year-old Ryan Johnson, starting on the left of a three-man back line.
Johnson currently plays in League Two with Stevenage, whom he joined from West Bromwich Albion in 2013.
According to Transfermarkt - which states that Johnson has played once for Tottenham's second string this season, but fails to specify which game - the Northern Ireland Under-21 international is out of contract at the end of the campaign.
Birmingham native Johnson has played 12 times for Stevenage in total but has yet to make an appearance this season.
It remains to be seen whether or not Spurs will pursue their interest in the player, who may have been simply making up the numbers.
