Celtic striker Moussa Dembele has been outstanding this season.
Celtic Juventus 2001 Henrik Larsson
It was 1997 that Celtic struck gold when they signed Henrik Larsson from Feyenoord.
Larsson would go on to break records and become one of the clubs’ greatest ever players. Now one of his teammates believes they have made their best signing since.
Chris Sutton told the Daily Record that he believes Moussa Dembele’s capture is in the same category, arriving at the club 19 years later than Larsson.
He said: “Celtic have been at another level and that’s been down to the manager. He got his recruitment spot on the summer – which you can’t say has been the case for a long time – and everyone has seen the impact Moussa Dembele and Scott Sinclair have made.
“Dembele will prove to be the best bit of business done at Celtic Park since they got Henrik for a song.”
Celtic’s Moussa Dembele in action
Dembele has been prolific this season, scoring for fun, netting 32 goals in all competitions for the club.
17 of these have come in the league and, with three in the Champions League group stages.
The big problem for Celtic is whether they can hang onto the striker, with his goals attracting interest from clubs across Europe.
Larsson stayed at Celtic for seven glorious seasons, becoming a club legend in the process.
