Ibrox outfit Glasgow Rangers should look at former Gers player Alex Rae, suggested Charlton Athletic manager Karl Robinson last month.

According to a report in The Daily Record last week, Rangers are interested in appointing Alex Rae as the assistant manager.
It was reported that Rae held a one-on-one discussion with Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha.
Barry Ferguson, Peter Lovenkrands and John Brown have also undergone the same process for the assistant manager’s role at Ibrox, according to The Daily Record.
Rae looks like a strong candidate for the Rangers job. The 47-year-old former midfielder played for the Gers from 2004 to 2006, and has managerial experience with Dundee and St Mirren.
Having played and also managed in Scotland, Rae would bring with him a wealth of experience that Caixinha could use.
The Scotsman would also arrive with a strong recommendation. Back in February, Charlton Athletic manager Karl Robinson suggested to The Daily Record that Rangers should try to find a role for Rae.
Robinson worked with Rae at MK Dons, and spoke highly of the Scotsman.
“There are a lot of good people in Scotland and Alex is one of them,” Robinson told The Daily Record last month.
“He scouts for me up there and I can’t believe people seem to overlook him with his knowledge, experience and passion for Rangers.
“Everything about Alex is Rangers. His passion is incredible. Whether you play him at football, golf or even table tennis, Alex still wants to fight you!”
Maybe, just maybe, Rangers decided to heed Robinson’s advice and took a look at Rae…
