It has been quite a special week for Leeds United striker Chris Wood. In truth, it’s been a special season for the player. But on Saturday evening he scored both goals for the West Yorkshire side as they picked up a 2-0 win over promotion rivals Brighton and Hove Albion.

The goals were his 26th and 27th of the season in what has been an incredible campaign for the Kiwi striker.

Now his week has got even better. The Leeds striker is set for international duty with New Zealand this week. He will be hoping to lead the team to victory in two games against Fiji in World Cup qualifiers this week.

He will also do so as captain.

West Ham United defender Winston Reid has pulled out of the New Zealand squad through injury so Wood will be taking the armband for the fixtures.

He has captained his country before, but it is just another reason to be cheerful for the 25-year-old. He has had his doubters during his time at Leeds but he is really starting to come good. He will hope to continue that form with the All Whites this week.
