Tottenham were linked with signing Sofiane Boufal in 2016.
Southampton's Sofiane Boufal in action with Tottenham's Jan Vertonghen
Sofiane Boufal got a chance to show Tottenham Hotspur what they missed out on yesterday, but failed to seize his chance.
Boufal came off the bench at White Hart Lane with Southampton 2-1 down with 21 minutes left to play.
The stage was set, but the 23-year-old could not break down Tottenham's resolute defence.
He produced an erratic display which saw him get plenty of the ball, but for his touch to let him down, failing to create a single chance. His only shot at goal landed off target.
He was also involved with a clash with Tottenham stars Harry Winks and Kieran Trippier as tempers frayed in the closing stages.

The Moroccan has only eight starts in the Premier League since his summer switch from Lille, with just one coming in 2017.
Prior to his Southampton switch, Boufal was linked with a transfer to Tottenham from Lille, with France Football reporting last summer that he was high on Mauricio Pochettino's list of targets.
Yesterday he did not give them cause for regret.
Here is a look at what Tottenham fans made of his performance against them...
Still think Boufal is a freestyler that’s lucked his way into playing for a PL team.— Rhodes (@Tom_Rhodes) March 19, 2017
And all the wannabe ITK's that moaned when Spurs didn't sign Boufal and Saints did. You know nothing you divs.— Glenn ShelfSideYid (@glenn_spurs) March 19, 2017
Imagine Boufal under a coach like Poch, he'd be...... frozen out and sold to Southampton— RebelRamble (@RebelRamble) March 19, 2017
Side point but did Boufal manage the worst 15 mins in Premier League history there? Looked like he was playing on roller skates— Glenn Ebrey (@glennebrey) March 19, 2017
