Arsenal's Chuba Akpom in action with Nottingham Forest's Hildeberto Pereira
Chuba Akpom was once tipped as Arsenal's striking future, only for a succession of poor loan spells to cause his star to wane.
The young striker flopped at Coventry City and Nottingham Forest, and could not impress enough at Hull last season to make them want to bring him with them to the Premier League.
This January he moved on loan again, this time to promotion chasers Brighton and Hove Albion. Unfortunately it is not getting any better.
The England youth striker has once more found it tricky to establish himself and make an impact at a competitive level.
At the weekend he was a second half substitute in Brighton's 2-0 defeat to Leeds United, but did not make a positive impression.
Coming on with 17 minutes to go, Akpom had just six touches and failed to register a shot at goal.
Brighton needed a game changer, and Akpom fell short of being able to provide any semblance of a spark.
The 21-year-old is yet to start a game for the Seagulls, making seven substitute appearances and has no goals so far.
His display at the weekend was the final straw for some, with fans even calling form him to be sent back to the Gunners.
Here is a look at how Brighton fans reacted to his performance...
Oh yeah and akpom please try and look interested we don't ask for much as fans but please try yeah? #bhafc— Mr Seabass (@sebmahon) March 18, 2017
Akpom is absolutely pony! Send him back to Arsenal now— Lambert (@OfficialLamber1) March 18, 2017
Tomori played well, a little nieve for the pen, but overall a good performance and looks like he cares.— Chris Blyth (@BlythMeister) March 18, 2017
Akpom...Looks like he can't be arsed
I'd rather have Wayne Shaw upfront than Chuba Akpom. What a complete waste of space #Bhafc— Nick Davie (@Nick_Davie) March 18, 2017
Akpom come on. If you play for Arsenal I expect you to be able to make a simple pass. #bhafc— Oren (@OnlyHemed) March 18, 2017
