According to The Mirror, Tottenham will make a move for the Everton star in the summer transfer window.
Spurs have a strong squad and a very competitive starting lineup, and many could wonder whether Barkley would be able to play regularly.
The 23-year-old is playing well for Everton at the moment, but there have been spells in the past when he has struggled to make an impact.
The England international, though, will have no problem playing with Dele Alli, who is one of the best young midfielders in Europe and is a mainstay in the current Spurs team.
Earlier this month, in an interview with The Daily Mail conducted by former Liverpool and Tottenham midfielder Jamie Redknapp, Barkley said when asked if he could play with Alli for the England national football team: “Yes. No question.
“I see him as a box-to-box midfielder and I like to play in the No 10 position. We could play in a midfield three and it would get the best out of both of us. He's a very good player.”
If Tottenham do sign Barkley in the summer transfer window, then perhaps manager Mauricio Pochettino would be wise to play him with Alli the way the 23-year-old has suggested.
Of course, Barkley would have to earn his place in the starting lineup first, but the partnership between him and Alli should excite the Spurs fans.
