The Charlton Athletic boss took a risk on the midfielder at MK Dons.

MK Dons manager Karl Robinson could hardly hide his delight when the club signed former Arsenal youngster Chuks Aneke in the summer on a one-year deal, as reported by Sky Sports.
The Newham-born midfielder’s career looked to have stalled when after a series of loan spells away from The Emirates led him to Belgian outfit Zulte Waregem but, after a serious injury that left him on the sidelines for almost a year, the Dons took a major risk handing Aneke a route back into the English game.
While his performances haven’t exactly been consistent, the 23-year-old has offered the odd reminder why Arsenal once rated him so highly. That blink-and-you-miss it volley into the top corner against Northampton was more akin to the back-alleys of Fifa Street than the humble surrounds of League One.
And Robinson, after handing Aneke a short-term contract, admitted that he had tracked the powerhouse attacker’s midfielder for quite some time.
“Chuks is someone we’ve known about for a very long time. He’s a very talented player and I’m excited to work with him,” the manager told Sky Sports.

And although Aneke will be forced to miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery, Robinson took a risk on him before. Will he do so again at his new club, Charlton Athletic?
The Addicks are crying out for energy in midfield and Aneke, when fit provides that in abundance. Furthermore, with Andrew Crofts and the long-serving Johnnie Jackson into their 30s, the fact that the one-time England Under-18 international has youth on his side may appeal to Robinson as he attempts to build a side capable of plotting an escape from the third tier.
According to LondonNewsOnline, Charlton are interested in signing MK Dons playmaker Ben Reeves in the summer. Perhaps Robinson should not end the raid of his former club there.
