Following the news that Rob Kiernan will be suspended for Rangers’ upcoming league game against Celtic, fans of both clubs have taken to social media to talk about one player in particular – Philippe Senderos.
The 32-year-old has barely featured for Rangers since arriving at Ibrox, managing just four appearances in all competitions to date.
With Kiernan unavailable on Sunday, the likelihood is that Danny Wilson will play alongside Clint Hill, but plenty of fans have been suggesting what could happen if Rangers opt to bring Senderos in from the cold.
The Switzerland international last started for Rangers in early February, when the Gers drew 1-1 with Ross County at Ibrox, but before that his previous league game had been way back in October.
Rangers’ interim boss Graeme Murty is unlikely to pick Senderos to start against a free-scoring Celtic side, but stranger things have happened in football.
Here is what Celtic fans had to say about the prospect of facing the Swiss player on social media this week:
So old man Hill will have to play the full 90 minutes or we will see a Senderos and Wilson pairing - happy days.— StMiley (@StMiley) March 9, 2017
Any chance of Senderos getting a game at the weekend.. that would at least make it fun.— @gally (@__gally) March 9, 2017
